The Great Ice Storm - Part 1

The ice hung from the rafters...

...from the power lines and the trees,
It was just another winter day with us cozy in our house. Then the power flickered. Panic sunk into the cook's heart. All hands on deck to finish putting dinner on the table, but no good. As the world crystallized outside, inside the house went dark.

What?! No power!!
Bravely we huddled by the fireplace with nothing but Christmas candles for light (there was a discussion about pulling out the half burned Advent candles if we got desperate). Children were warned about flushing. No power meant no water. Oh, the end was near, but The Queen brightly commented, "After watching the episode with Red Riding Hood on Once Upon a Time, I wanted to live like that." The Monkey whipped her head around, "This is your fault!!" Tempers flaired. Mom whipped out the cupcakes and Dad the computer.

With heavy hearts and blankets we admitted defeat. After much discussion and debate, we headed to beds and couches huddling together for warmth and fell asleep.
